Are you looking to improve your stickhandling, work on your skating edges, or perfect your wrist shot? Welcome to the premier Stick and Puck program in Rochester, NY, hosted specifically for hockey development at Tim Hortons Iceplex.
Unlike traditional public skating or organized league play, our Stick & Puck sessions offer a unique open-ice environment. It is the perfect setting for players of all ages and skill levels—from mites to adult league veterans—to get extra time on the ice without the pressure of a game.
What to Expect at Our Stick & Puck Sessions
Every session at Tim Hortons Iceplex provides 50 minutes of ice time dedicated to skill development. This is your chance to practice the drills that matter most to you. Whether you are learning to skate backwards or refining a slap shot, you have the freedom to train at your own pace.
While these sessions are self-guided, they are also a fantastic opportunity for private instruction. Private hockey coaches are welcome to join their players on the ice for one-on-one training or small group development.

- Capacity: Strictly limited to 20 participants to ensure plenty of open ice for everyone.
Equipment Requirements and Safety Rules
Safety is our top priority. To participate in Stick and Puck at Tim Hortons Iceplex, all players must wear full hockey equipment. This includes:
- HECC-approved helmet
- Hockey gloves and stick
- Shin guards, elbow pads, and shoulder pads
- Hockey pants and jersey
Note for Coaches: If you are joining a player for instruction, you must wear at minimum a track suit, gloves, and a HECC-approved helmet.
Strictly Skill Development—No Scrimmages
Please note that Stick and Puck is not "Pick-Up Hockey." To maintain a safe environment for practicing individual skills, scrimmages and pick-up games are strictly prohibited. If you are looking for game play, please check our schedule for Pick-Up Hockey sessions.
