The Timbits Hockey 201 program is the vital second stage in the Iceplex's proven Learn to Play Hockey pathway. It is specifically designed to take players from the fundamentals mastered in Hockey 101 (a required prerequisite) and propel them toward the full team experience.
Timbits 201 acts as the critical bridge for players to transition into Pre-Mites, the foundational entry program for the full youth hockey organization experience. By the end of this program, your child will be fully prepared and confident to take that next exciting step.
What to Expect in Timbits 201
- Focus on Fun & Development: Our core focus is on fun. We maintain a positive, high-energy, and low-pressure environment that is crucial for building the comfort levels children need to truly learn and thrive on the ice.
- Accelerated Skill Advancement: Practices are structured to rapidly develop fundamental hockey skills, improve skating proficiency, and introduce team concepts and game flow. We utilize multi-station learning were we blend skill work with engaging, fun drills that ensure maximum development.
- Introduction to Team Play: Players will be introduced to the exciting dynamics of a team environment as the program progresses. The program includes 32 fifty minute on-ice practices, as well as 6 hours of structured, fun game time against other programs of a similar level, providing a taste of real competition in a setting that is designed entirely around having fun.
- Extended Season & Ice Time: The program runs for 17 weeks (covering the second half of the traditional youth hockey season), ensuring substantial ice time. Participants receive two practices per week on separate days.
- Flexible Scheduling: To accommodate busy family schedules, you will select either Monday or Wednesday as your child’s primary practice day. All participants also meet on Tuesday for the secondary practice session. of the week.
- Equipment Requirement: Participants must have their own full set of hockey equipment to participate in this program.
We are proud to partner with the Rochester Coalition and Rochester Edge youth hockey organizations, whose experienced coaches take the lead in providing the on-ice instruction for this program, ensuring your child receives high-quality training aligned with the standards of USA Hockey, the organizing body of amateur hockey in the United States.

2026 WINTER SESSION
When registering, you will choose either Monday or Wednesday as your primary practice day.
- Your player will attend their primary practice day (not the alternative option).
- All participants will also attend the secondary practice day, which is always Tuesday.
- In total, your player receives 32 practices over the course of the 17-week program (16 sessions on the primary day + 16 sessions on Tuesday).
- In addition, 6 hours of game time will take place on weekends.
