ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Monroe County is set to host top-tier youth hockey talent as SuperSeries Hockey brings its brand-new Elite Prospects Showcase Series (EPSS) to Greater Rochester starting tomorrow.
Launched in 2026, the new three-day showcase is one of three premier tournaments featured in SuperSeries Hockey’s inaugural EPSS lineup this year—alongside sister events in Boston and Pittsburgh. Running from October 2 through October 4, the debut event features 37 elite teams across the 14U, 15O, 16U, and 18U AAA divisions, drawing top prospects, college scouts, and passionate hockey families from across North America.
Sports Tourism Fuels Rochester’s Local Economy
Amateur sports tourism continues to serve as a major economic driver for the Greater Rochester region. With 37 visiting and local rosters gathering in Monroe County for this new series, the influx of thousands of players, coaches, family members, and spectators will generate significant economic activity across the local hospitality sector.
Throughout the three-day showcase, visiting teams will fill local hotel room blocks, dine at area restaurants, patronize retail businesses, and explore local attractions. The direct economic spend generated by EPSS Rochester provides a vital boost to Monroe County’s tourism economy while further strengthening the region’s reputation as a premier destination for North American youth sports.
“Welcoming a major new event series like the Elite Prospects Showcase Series brings high-level, fast-paced hockey to our region while directly supporting our local hoteliers, restaurants, and small business community,” said Chris Woodworth, Executive Director of Tim Hortons Iceplex. “Sports tourism plays a critical role in Monroe County’s broader economic health, and launching this new showcase with 37 elite teams from across the U.S. and Canada is a major win for Rochester.”
A Truly Continental Debut
For its inaugural Rochester stop, the EPSS boasts an impressive geographic footprint, bringing together elite programs from across eight U.S. states and two Canadian provinces:
- U.S. States Represented: New York, New Jersey, Texas, California, Michigan, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and New Hampshire.
- Canadian Provinces Represented: Ontario and Quebec.
Key visiting organizations competing among the 37-team field include Honeybaked (MI), Jr. Ducks (CA), Team Dallas (TX), North Jersey Avalanche (NJ), 95 Giants (MA/NH), Phénix de Nicolas-Gatineau (QC), Okanagan Hockey Ontario (ON), alongside top local and regional competitors including the Rochester Coalition and Rochester Jr. Americans.
